London photos: the giant Monopoly board in Trafalgar Square

This past Saturday, a giant Monopoly board appeared in Trafalgar Square, in honor of the launch of the London Games Festival.

It wasn’t a normal Monopoly board, however. Because the Festival is primarily about videogames, all the “properties” were notable events in the history of the medium.

I love Monument Valley!

And a fine time was had by all, including dogs (who did not want to stay in jail).

Meanwhile actual boardgames have been having a quiet renaissance over the last fifteen years or so, largely by not being Monopoly. :-)
