watch it: “Tea Party PSA (FreedomWorks) from D.C. Douglas”

Remember D.C. Douglas, the voiceover actor who was fired from GEICO after he left a nasty (and admittedly juvenile) voicemail for teabagger org FreedomWorks? He’s back, and his satire a lot sharper now:

While I am no fan of FreedomWorks or any similar astro-turfing compaigns, what D.C. Douglas got was what he deserved.

Had he done something like this initially he’d have been fine. Freedom of speech is just that. I don’t care what the voice artist thinks about FreedomWorks.

But what he originally did was call FreedomWorks and tell them he worked for Geiko and then laid out his drunken invective. What Geiko did was fire him for misrepresenting the company. And rightfully so.

Freedomworks didn’t blacklist him, he earned his bad reputation. Who would hire an actor who would bring negative publicity onto a company like that?

Actually, he didn’t identity himself as working for Geico, but he was foolish enough to give FreedomWorks his acting name and home number. The folks at FreedomWorks were the ones who figured out his link to Geico and got him fired (also posted his home number and encouraged their supporters to call and harrass him).

Concern trolling, C. David, or just trying to be fair and balanced? FreedomWorks is what right-wing a$$holes pretend progressive organisations are: an entity which exists to undermine freedom and democracy through agitprop in order to benefit priviledged elitists.

One would think someone named “Dick Army” would have a better sense of humor.
