watch it: the 7/17/10 weekly address from President Barack Obama

The man in absolutely unflappable. It’s like his superpower is the ability to remain absolutely dead calm even in the face of outrageous, um, outrage.

I started posting Obama’s weekly addresses because I thought they were an interesting step into the Internet age for communication between our leaders and our populace. I saw them as something like Roosevelt’s fireside chats (which went out over the radio, of course). But I wonder if those who even bother to watch these get anything at all out of them. This one in particular reminds me of that Monty Python sketch — in The Meaning of Life, I think — about the teacher lecturing his teenage students on sex, complete with a demonstration, and it’s so dull that the kids are goofing off or staring out the window: just not paying attention at all.
