the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘Kitten Party Holiday’

I love kittens, but I simply cannot fathom what the appeal of a kitten screensaver for your TV could be. Unless it’s meant for the family dog…

Meet Whiskers and all of his kitten friends as they throw a fun filled Kitten Party! Educational for kids Fun for animal lovers of all ages! Over 50 kittens from a dozen different breeds. Hilarious kitten antics and cuddly kitten moments! Three sing-along kitten songs! Two bonus playpen chapters for more kitten fun! Shot in high definition!

How do you sing along with kittens? Do you meow along? I’m so confused.

But the worst thing about Kitten Party Holiday is that it’s the exact same DVD as the upcoming Kitten Party with a Photoshopped cover. So if you’re expecting to see kittens romping and rolling amongst crumpled-up bits of festive wrapping paper or clambering up the Christmas tree, I’m guessing you’re going to be disappointed:

I think maybe the Amazon link does not go whither you intended it to go.

But in my experience “same content, different cover” usually means “we’re selling this to people who are too dim to read the small print, or who don’t care because they’ve giving it as a present (‘Suzanne likes kittens, right? Let’s get her a kitten DVD’)”.

Frankly I’m skeptical that a kitten would have the organizational savvy to put together a party of any sort, let alone a fun-filled one.

I like that it was shot in Hi Def, but is only available on DVD. How am I supposed to show off my fancy HDTV capabilities?

I’m guessing that the appeal of a “kitten screensaver for your TV” is roughly the same as the cute kitten videos on youtube. I don’t know as I would pay for it, but my mother would.
