question of the day: What is the most horrifying movie monster?

To get us in the spirit of Halloween:

What is the most horrifying movie monster?

Feel free to define monster as loosely or as narrowly as you like. (To get you started on ideas, here’s a list of monster movies at Wikipedia.)

I think I have to go with Brundlefly in David Cronenberg’s The Fly. From its physical grotesquerie to the pathos of a man lost in becoming the monster, Brundlefly gives me the most unnerving chills no matter how many times I’ve seen the movie. It’s a horror that never wears off.

You?
