There’s a lot going on in this video, ideawise, and it’s stunningly complex, nuanced, and not easy to distill into soundbites. But perhaps the most astonishing thing about it is that for an hour one night last week on primetime basic cable, two intelligent people held an intelligent discussion about matters they don’t entirely agree upon, and no one raised their voice, sobbed crocodile tears, or threw a tantrum.
If TV can look like this as a rarity, surely it can look like this more often.
