‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: Hey, what happened to the Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express?

I was browsing around some of my posts on the previous season of Doctor Who, Matt Smith’s first series, and I was suddenly reminded that the end of “The Big Bang” appeared to be promising us this for the Christmas special:

An Egyptian goddess loose on the Orient Express. In space… Don’t worry about a thing, Your Majesty — we’re on our way.

That was the Doctor on the phone in the TARDIS the last time we saw him*. I called it a cheeky tease back then, and wondered if it was Liz Ten on the other end of the line. And it was all completely forgotten.

Steven Moffat is such a bastard.

*Okay, not quite the last time. The Doctor also appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures this autumn, in an episode called “Death of the Doctor,” which quite clearly takes place almost immediately before “A Christmas Carol.” But I’ll write about that shortly.

(If you stumble across a cool Doctor Who thing, feel free to email me with a link.)
