Hilarious, provocative look at the wonderfully profane rebels of the culture wars who, with tongue in cheek but seriously, too, are trolling fundie-Christian America with their delicious blasphemies.

The slim charms of the previous movies have been tossed away in favor of cringe-inducing cattiness and a ridiculous plot. There’s barely even any music. Aca-palling.

Doubly dated, lacking in humor and subtext, its impressive cast deliberately underutilized, this is little more than an exercise in gorgeous production design.

Of course it’s fun in the “oh my god that’s Benedict Cumberbatch!” sense, but it’s a bit Hamlet for Dummies, or Hamlet’s Greatest Hits.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
