I found a lot of the gothic Tom Baker stories pretty frightening: “The Seeds of Doom” was pretty creepy, with its body-conscious horror (the villain gets transformed into an alien plant). I still find something really unsettling about the immortals in the Peter Davison story “Enlightenment”: though they look entirely human, they have an eerie kind of calm about them that makes them feel way more alien than most of the guys in rubber suits have ever been.
It’s weird to look back at ‘Genesis of Daleks’ now and know that the first time I saw this — it would have been back in the early 1980s — I had no idea what the hell a Dalek was.

I will remind everyone, however, that Peter Davison wore sneakers — or trainers, or plimsolls, or whatever you want to call them — long before David Tennant did.
So apparently there were some mad plans for a 1993 30th-anniversary special that never panned out, involving a story about Tom Baker’s Doctor not regenerating into Peter Davison and so all the universe is in trouble or something.
