Limp and lifeless, this overlong and undercooked would-be blockbuster cannot focus on either the hard-edged realities or the magical mysteries it toys with.
What with all the Pirates of the Caribbean folks involved here, I wasn’t expecting this to be so serious…
I’m not sure I can think of a worse idea than this. I can well imagine being retraumatized by seeing a big guy in black body armor and a mask coming at you, no matter who is wearing it…
It’s movies like this one that make me despair. Because it is going to make a bazillion bucks at the box office around the world, and there’s absolute nothing here that warrants such success.
