questions

question of the day: How many things can you find wrong with the cover of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue?

Fri, Feb 03, 2012
no comments yet

Too white, too thin, too interchangeable: the traditional cover featuring young talent on the rise always comes under massive scrutiny, and the ritual is now in full swing…

question of the day: Which film actors would you like to see make the move to television?

What sort of show would you cast them in?

question of the day: If you were stuck on a ledge, how would you waste the time?

Wed, Feb 01, 2012

And why the heck are you on a ledge in the first place?

question of the day: Would a coupon deal get you to a multiplex to see a movie you wouldn’t otherwise see?

It seems a Groupon deal did get some folks in the U.S. out to see One for the Money who might not otherwise have gone…

question of the day: Did male discomfort prevent Michael Fassbender from being nominated for an Oscar for Shame?

Mon, Jan 30, 2012

question of the day: Why aren’t there more women film directors?

Fri, Jan 27, 2012
no comments yet

There are even fewer women directors working in Hollywood today than there were 20 years ago. How do we get more women interested in making movies, and then ensure there aren’t unfair barriers in their way? And why don’t more people seem to understand that this is a problem?

question of the day: Is “the gaze” (male or female) disempowering for the gazee?

Thu, Jan 26, 2012

Twilight has ruined vampires, and it’s all women’s fault, doncha know, with our gazing at Edward Cullen…

question of the day: What is the most egregious snub among the Oscar nominations for 2011’s films?

Wed, Jan 25, 2012

Michael Fassbender? Tilda Swinton? Michael Shannon? Elizabeth Olsen? But Jonah Hill gets a nom… *sigh*

question of the day: How much do you take advantage of the cultural opportunities where you live?

Tue, Jan 24, 2012
no comments yet

Even in a small town, there’s always something cultural happening: a show by a local artist or photographer, or a play put on by an amateur theater troupe. In a big city, there’s an overwhelming number of cultural events and performing arts to take in. Do you take any of it in, wherever you are?
