Peerflix/LiveUniverse: still a deadbeat

Still no money from Peerflix/LiveUniverse, who owe me slightly over $900 in contractually obligated ad revenue (I discussed this a few weeks back).

Eric D. Snider, another webmaster of a movie blog who’s been stiffed by Peerflix/LiveUniverse, has started a blog dedicated to shaming LiveUniverse into paying up. It’s called LiveUniverse Owes Me Money, and Eric -- and I -- encourage all bloggers LiveUniverse is trying to fuck over to contribute their stories.

LiveUniverse is a project of MySpace founder Brad Greenspan, and it continues to tout itself as a “leading entertainment company”:

That’s right from its Web site. The site also touts its “recent advertisers”:

I wonder if these advertisers know that LiveUniverse is screwing over its member Web sites who may have displayed ads for these companies. I wonder how these “leading advertisers” like bad publicity.

This is what really pisses me off: LiveUniverse has been on a spree of buying up Net ventures over the course of 2008, and it obviously kept on with that spree even though it knew it would not be able to meet the obligations of those bought-up companies. Is this honest? Is this honorable? Is this decent? Is this what constitutes business ethics in America in 2008: get away with whatever you can get away with for as long as you can get away with it?

Is 900-something bucks gonna break me? No. But I earned it, and I’m owed it, and I am sick to fucking death of seeing obscenely wealthy fatcats walk away from their own basic humanity -- is a deal a deal, or not? -- in the name of a money.

I am not Brad Greenspan. Brad Greenspan is a man who talks about hundreds of millions and billions of dollars, and I’m sure he will never have to worry about his own personal comfort again. Would 900-something bucks come in real handy for the likes of me right about now? You bet.

Am I asking for anything more than what I am rightfully, legally owed by LiveUniverse? Not at all. And that’s what makes me mad: not the money. The principle of the thing. We had a bargain, me and Peerflix, which is now owned by LiveUniverse. I held up my end of the bargain. I didn’t try to weasel out of anything. All I want is for LiveUniverse to hold up its end of the deal. It’s really not that hard.

Keep pushing. he is a terrrible person and spread lies everywhere after Myspace was sold. Not a shred of truth.

Eric's website about the situation is down. Has the situation been resolved?

I'll have an update within a couple of days. Can't say anything yet.

liveuniverse owes me money too. i just randomly decided to type "live universe owes me money" into google. i cant stop laughing. they owe me about 2k. like you said-- it's not ruining my life but it's still annoying.
