Mr. Rogers visits Eureka

Cute, probably inevitable, and definitely my favorite TV promo of the season:

Eureka returns next week, on Tuesday, July 29, at 9pm Eastern on Sci Fi.

Bwah! Somehow I haven’t seen this one yet. And, somehow, and go figure, the “Pushing Daisies” esthetic must have been visited by the last bastion of honeybees, who have now pollinated the budding promo-meisters of the world.

“Eureka’s” actors can handle it, though. The comedy and the drama. Can’t wait to see some of the goofiness return in this new season (hopefully) and see what Bear McCreary had up his musical sleeve.

My God! Is it something in the water? Who clicked the singing scientist meme?

Not that I don’t love it…I mean my inner song-and0dance man is thrilled. but it can’t possibly be parallel development. Someone over there MUST be a Dr. Horrible fan.

* slaps forehead in disgust *

C. David, you’re right! I forgot to make the Dr. Horrible connection. And here I managed to watch all 3 parts before the freebie went away.

You know, I have a sneaking suspicion that the Whedon universe includes a lot of the creative talent behind “Eureka.” I can picture them crossing paths on planes between LA and Vancouver and at LA soirees. They’re certainly of the same sensibilities.

“We’re sorry, currently our video library can only be streamed inside the United States. For more information of Hulu’s international availability, click here.” [Click. Nothing happens.]
“If you’re inside the United States and believe you’ve received this message in error, please click here.” [Click. Nothing happens.]
Somehow, this reminds me of the ending of “Waiting for Godot”: ‘Yes, let’s go.” (They do not move.)
Are these messages and the utter lack of connectivity some sort of existential statement (said he from the alternate universe called Europe)?

Hey, I get pissed off when I can’t watch BBC stuff because I’m not in the U.K.

Our corporate overlords do not understand the concept behind the *World Wide* Web.

I know what you mean. I can’t see any of that that stuff from across the North Sea either. Thanks for your “Spaced” review, by the way. I’ll have to get myself one of them 3 disk sets. Did you ever see “The League of Gentlemen”, made by a confederacy of horror film nuts slash consummate comedians? I subtitled all 18 episodes for Dutch telly and had a blast! Keep up the good work, you geek goddess, you.

I have a box set of *League of Gentlemen,* which I may get around to writing about eventually.

Much better than sci-fi Doctor who promos. They gave away the last shots of The Stolen Earth on this weeks trailer. That has got to be a crime.

I have to say I’m pumped for a third season of Eureka. It is like a nice refreshing gelati after a lot of meaty sci-fi in the form of Doctor Who, Battlestar, Torchwood…I like it. Nerdy without being demeaning.

I also like that Sheriff Jack isn’t a nerd and that he sometimes has the solutions to the problem! And people respect his opinion despite his not having a Ph.D. in Horrib…er…Awesomeness.

@geekgirl:
My wife sympathizes. She is about ready to wage a one-woman war on previews, teasers, and promos. She hates to be spoiled. She doesn’t want to know ANYTHING about what she is watching. Well, anything more than what she needs to get her intrigued. (Such as Eureka is starting up on July 29th )

I vote for a full hour singing episode:)

Some great promos this summer – the ‘Ebony and Ivory’ promo for ‘Psych’ makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.

Eureka promo was giving me Buffy the Vampire Slayer the musical flashbacks. It makes me wonder if they’re going to get away with a full hour episode of singing and dancing. I like Eureka though and watch it whenever I get a second.
