Ha! Back in the olden days, my buddies in the Prydonian Renegades who had British contacts managed to get me a couple of grainy videos of Worzel Gummidge to feed my Jon Pertwee infatuation. I still have them, although they’re probably unplayable at their age. So when I found the complete Worzel Gummidge collection on DVD on Amazon.co.uk, (including the Christmas special), you know I had to buy it. It’s in my backlog of things to watch so can’t comment on it specifically yet, but Jon was wonderful in anything he did. Old infatuations die hard, and old true loves even harder. Jon was a true love.
Try to conquer your fears, grasshopper, and give it a watch.

Hey, I grew up with Worzel on TV. I didn’t watch more than an episode or two, because I wanted Pertwee being the Doctor, not some scarecrow with a cryptic speech impediment. But I still half-remember the rules for speaking Worzelese or whatever it was called…

Careful, that’s a lot of British childhoods you’re messing with there…

Don’t tell me all those British children weren’t warped for life by Jon Pertwee as a scarecrow…
