watch it: the 10/31/09 weekly address from President Barack Obama

Tax cut? Huh. Yesterday I wrote a check for $200 to New York State for a new mass-transit tax on employers… including the self-employed. Employers are expressly forbidden by the state from passing this tax on to their employees, but there’s no way I can’t pass this tax on to me.

But if I’d traded in an old car (except I don’t own a car), I could have gotten a payout from the federal government to put toward a new car. Where’s my payout for not putting another car on the road? Where’s the fed payout to the states and cities with robust mass transit systems to support them?
