what’s in the box?

UPDATE: My spoilerific blogging now available here.

Well, we know what’s in the box, but we still don’t know, really, what’s in the box, do we?

At the Coventry Telegraph blog The Geek Files, Steven Moffat teases us some more about tonight’s finale (warning: spoilers for “The Pandorica Opens”!):

The Doctor is trapped inside a prison from which even he can’t escape. Amy Pond is dead. Rory is plastic. River Song has been blown up in the Tardis, which has been blown up and destroyed every sun in the universe.

I think any other hero would be in a pickle but I think The Doctor can take it.

I really do think episode 13, the episode we’ll see on Saturday, is a story only Doctor Who can do – no other show could have come close to a story like this. That’s what is exciting about it.

Click through to The Geek Files for more on Moffat’s visit to the primary school where his sister teaches (he brought Cybermen along for the trip).

Doctor Who: “The Big Bang” is on BBC One tonight, and tonight on BBC America, “Vincent and the Doctor.”

Don’t spoil “The Big Bang” here! (We’re already spoiling “Vincent and the Doctor” here.) My blogging coming asap tomorrow.

Maybe I’m missing a few details but that one pretty much made sense 99% of the time.

There’s got to be a bigger picture that makes no sense. It can’t be wrapped up so easily…

Don’t worry, Jackie, the Fez will regenerate.

Didn’t anyone ever tell you? There’s one thing you never put in a trap if you’re smart. If you value your continued existence, if you have any plans about seeing tomorrow, there’s one thing you never, ever put in a trap.

Actually, I loved the way that River knew how to deal promptly with a Doctor wardrobe malfunction before it got out of hand.

The last Doctor Who Confidential show covered the BBC America screening of the Eleventh Hour in East Village. I looked and looked for MAJ in the crowd but couldn’t see her. Anyone else have better luck?

Also, eeeek, Steven Moffat promises that next series we will find out who River Song is!!!!

Not quite what I expected. Thought the ending was a bit heavy on the deus ex machina (I can think of some variations on this, but that I will save them for MaryAnn’s proper review).

Was right about there being some sort of reset. Nice to also see we were right about the coat issue from the earlier Angels episode.

Looks like the big story arc for this season is really part of a larger story arc to come. If there has been some sort of big bad at work, we apparently haven’t even seen him/her/it yet.

That was the weirdest, most amazing piece of timey-wimey in all the universes. Steven Moffat is an complete and utter genius, and my jaw was on the floor for the entire episode. It was so jam packed, and it tied up (most of) everything. My head is still spinning from the timey wimey of it all a couple hours later.

That should answer MaryAnn’s question about what to do with the rest of summer. Watching all episodes over and over again, the last two ones for a gazillion times probably.
Also: My girl-crush on River is starting to worry me.

Aaah stop spoiling here! Shh! Over on the West coast I’m just downloading now!

So, MaryAnn, can we anticipate that your “dreading” bias meter button will now read “Doctor Who-free summer”?

Because that’s what I’m dreading.

The thing that it took me this long to realize is that this episode aired on the magic date of June 26 2010. I wonder what guarantees Moffat needed to get for that to work out.

Wow.

…Was anyone else thinking “sofa of reasonable comfort”?

Loved the extended jumbled up Princess Bride reference.

And oh my goodness, she made a —– — for —–!!! o.0

Favourite season yet. ^.^

Oh yeah, there are penguins on the Nile, polar bears in Australia, and Pharaohs in the Himalayas. Hopefully that’s sufficiently unspoilerish.

I’d say that words fail me but(SPOILERS) obviously not. It made my head hurt and my heart ache – just brilliant. Sorry that we’re not going to see the Eygptian goddess on the Orient Express (assuming that Matt and Karen were telling the truth on Confidential that they had just learnt (while in NYC) what the Christmas episode was going to be), sounds like a riot!

I finally got myself caught up on who this week (Left off at “Cold Blood”).

Glorious! Death of a Fez had me laughing hard, and the Timey-Wimeyness was brilliant. I love how the erratic nature of the time jumps turns out to be a result of the Doctor’s somewhat scatter-shot thought processes.
