If the grownup fimmakers have learned to move past the adolescent notion that girls and women are either virgins or whores and nothing in between, they nobly step aside to let Zack and Matt’s ideas about the male ownership of women — and the sullying of women that thereby occurs — dictate the course of the film.
What a fantastic exploration of all the ways women worked to make themselves heard in a time when they were ignored and dismissed and expected to be nothing but pretty and silent. What a beautifully subtle and beautifully pointed episode.
I’m not sure that an extra gory horror movie is quite the blow the MPAA deserves, but if this movie does well in limited release, perhaps it will convince the other multiplex chains that an unrated film is worth booking.
I haven’t read extensively about the film, but I did assume that it would be at least loosely based on the reality of how Facebook came into existence. I think that’s not an unfair assumption. Am I wrong?
