‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: build your own Dalek

Letters of Note — an awesome site that publishes cool old documents and letters — recently unearthed a most intriguing Doctor Who artifact:

From the production offices of the BBC in the early-1980’s, we have a rather cute, and for some reason – to me at least – highly amusing letter informing an avid Doctor Who fan named Ronald that his request for Dalek blueprints had been successful. It’s also a form letter, meaning the BBC must have been inundated with requests of a similar nature since the blueprints were initially released to the public, in 1973.

Click through to Letters of Note to see a scan of the actual letter.

Are the Dalek blueprints posted at TomR’s Media Creations the same ones lucky Ronald received? I suppose only Ronald could tell us for certain…

(Thanks to readers Keith and linnet246 for the heads-up. If you stumble across a cool Doctor Who thing, feel free to email me with a link.)
