question of the day: What are you doing with all the time you’re saving by *not* consuming all the entertainments on offer?

As a sort of followup on yesterday’s QOTD about whether you follow TV networks or TV shows, a question from bronxbee (though her suggestion predates yesterday’s QOTD):

i’ve noticed this claim in variations quite frequently in comments on your site:

i never watch television
i don’t see ads
i limit my viewing to XYZ

so, what i want to know is== what are people doing with all that time that they save by not watching television or going to the movies, or whatever crass media mass marketing outlet they avoid?

There you are: What are you doing with all the time you’re saving by not consuming all the entertainments on offer?

And here’s a side question from me: Do we sometimes make ourselves feel more guilty than we should if/when we do indulge in crap TV or movies, spend hours playing video games, let the commercials run even though we’re watching on DVR, and so on?

(If you have a suggestion for a QOTD, feel free to email me. Responses to this QOTD sent by email will be ignored; please post your responses here.)
