question of the day: Why do fans make Lego movies?

Lego Simpsons Movie poster

The other day I posted a fan film that remakes the final scene of Sherlock: “The Reichenbach Fall”in Lego.

There’s a lot of stuff like this to be found on YouTube. Many of these videos are highly amusing. But I kinda don’t get it. What moves people to do stuff like this? Don’t get me wrong: like I said, these are often hilarious. But why? I be mystified at the fannish motives.

Why do fans make Lego movies? And why do we like them so much?
