QOTD: What movies feel like a sunny day?

sunny day

I don’t know what it’s like where you are, but it feels like winter has been dragging on forever in London. It’s colder than it should be, with such a bitter, cutting wind over the past few days that it almost feels like a New York winter, and it seems like weeks since we saw the sun. Cheer me up!

What movies feel like a sunny day? Are there movies that you turn to in particular when winter gets to be too tedious for you?

Ladyhawke. Yes, even with the snow.

Hey, we had two sunny days this week! Cold, yes, but there was sun.

I think we forget just how far North the UK actually is, sometimes. London is on the same latitude as Calgary. New York, by comparison, is on the same latitude as Madrid. Looking at it that way, we’re pretty lucky that we have such mild weather and consider this so cold.

My ultimate cheer me up movie is Strictly Ballroom. Never fails to make me smile.

When I’m freezing my butt off I totally admit to digging up stupid comedies about vacations, including “Summer Rental”, “Captain Ron”, and of course “National Lampoon’s Family Vacation”.

Yes, I should have mentioned Branagh’s Much Ado. I want nothing more than to go to Tuscany and frolic in the sun and fall in love with Kenneth Branagh and Keanu Reeves.

“Days of Heaven” by Terrence Malick. Me and about two other people on the planet. :)

I am not one of those people, but I applaud your un-orthodoxy. :-)

Almost Famous was so joyous for me that it made me appreciate Elton John, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s miraculous. It still makes me happy every time.

Winter rarely gets too tedious for me.

On the other hand…if I’m feeling blue (for whatever reason)…Wings of Desire cheers me right up. Or Diva as a second choice.

Watch “City of Joy” to get warm inside and out

Well, the obvious answer is The Princess Bride. Or almost any 80’s fantasy film like Labyrinth, Neverending Story, dark Crystal, etc.

I really can’t think of much else. I really don’t watch many films more than once, so I’m not really qualified enough to answer this.
