Doctor Who thing: beautiful fan-made Gallifreyan quilt

British artist and newbie Doctor Who fan Akiyo Kano crafted a beautiful quilt for her Doctor Who-mad partner, James, for his birthday. Lucky guy!

The front:

The back, which I love, because it really does feel like the Doctor’s life:

Many more photos and an explanation of how she created the quilt at Kano’s site, Handmade Wardrobe. She says the project required lots of sewing and quilting skills that she’d never had to use before, so perhaps this is doable by non-expert quilters.

It’s fantastic work, and I expect James will be over the moon. However, I would love to have just the Gallifreyan design on its own. It’s beautiful. Nice to see what people are doing with it lately.

i have to agree… i love this, but a DW fan doesn’t need the DW logo (especially *that* one) …
