Doctor Who thing: John Barrowman killed by littlest Dalek

barrowmandalek

Don’t worry: he’ll spring back to life again in a moment…

This happened at FandomFest in Louisville, Kentucky, last August, and the little girl belongs to Michael Stalls, who posted the pic to Twitter.

Barrowman might be the most enthusiastic Doctor Who cast member ever. Even more than David Tennant.

Capaldi sounds pretty enthusiastic! And Alex Kingston says she loved playing River Song because she always wanted to play Indy Jones.

Have they gotten themselves killed by a little kid at a convention? :->

John seems pretty enthusiastic about everything fan interaction he has. He’s a shameless self-promotor. That’s not a criticism. That’s his job, and he’s very good at it, as evidenced by the work he’s gotten on successful projects, in various media, on both sides of the Atlantic.

(About the only thing I’ve seen him in that I didn’t like him was as Malcolm Merlyn on Arrow. And then only because I didn’t buy him in the role. I mean, I could see him as a megalomaniacal billionaire and secret member of the League of Assassins. Just not as the father of a 25-year-old.)

if i had known JB was on Arrow, i would have made more of a point to watch it. and, since JB is currently 46 years old, there would have been no problem with him being the father of a 25-year old. my dad is only 19 years older than me.

It’s a pretty good show, if you can deal with the CW network mandated, Dawson’s Creek-esque soap opera stuff while waiting for the Nolan Bat-verse aesthetic of the superhero story. Barrowman is only a recurring role, but he is the Big Bad of season 1, and has made a couple appearances in season 2.

And I know it’s technically plausible for Barrowman to have a 25-year-old son, the character isn’t the type of person who would have had a kid in his early 20s. Besides that, John himself barely looks 40. For comparison, the father of Oliver Queen (the main character, who is also 25) is played by Jamey Sheridan.
