Pumping sewage to treatment or potable water to distribution network?
Not a clue. I think the building was no longer a pumping station and was going to be demolished or repurposed or something.

My dear, one does not have a pumping station in Chelsea.
(For getting storm water into the Thames in a hurry; as far as I know it’s still got five huge 1930s-vintage diesel pumps. I believe it’s scheduled for upgrades. The building is listed…)
