London photo: wild blackberries

One of my housemates just pointed out to me that there are wild blackberries growing in our garden.

They are delicious. Well, the ripe ones are, anyway.

It’s a bit early for the main crop round here, but in past years we’ve made blackberry crumble and blackberry vodka.

(And while we’re picking them in the woods, people come along and say “oh, aren’t those poisonous?”)

There’s a *ton* more out there that aren’t anywhere near ripe yet, so I think we’re gonna be getting some juicy berries for many weeks to come.
