Well, gay wealthy white people are still wealthy, thus worth trying to drag in. Skin colour in the USA is its own special problem.

Mm, I get the feeling we have about as much gender trouble in the UK as in the USA, but rather less skin colour trouble.

And yet most of the USA’s skin colour troubles are derived from racial attitudes that Americans inherited from the British…

Probably, but in the UK we didn’t base large chunks of our economy on slavery (we just took the profits and shipped the slaves elsewhere), so nobody had to be killed in order to stop the ownership of slaves.
