I’m in no way a sports fan, but the blokes at my local who talk endlessly about football and cricket and rugby and motor racing have never mentioned the NFL to my knowledge. Apparently it’s been happening at Wembley since 2007.
i was just going to enquire as to whether this sport is really gaining the popularity the NFL says (and/or wishes) it is. i don’t think you can just throw a sport from one culture to another. there are some people in the US who like cricket and soccer, and maybe even curling, but they have hardly become a mainstream obsession.
I’m 99 percent certain this is nothing more than advertising hyperbole. Or maybe even the literal (but misleading) truth. Maybe no other sports are actually growing in popularity… since the other ones are so wildly popular that they couldn’t get any more so. So American football *could* be the fastest growing sport in the UK, even if it’s growing at only 0.000001 percent per year in popularity.
Not that it has much of anything to do with this ad, but I’d just like to leave this link here: http://deadspin.com/richard-sherman-and-michael-bennett-savage-the-ncaa-sc-1682752726?google_editors_picks=true

Fun With Stats!
Well, it’s a guess, anyway.
