I do believe the Vatican’s at it too. They were promising… what were those things that shorten your time in purgatory? to those who join up to follow the pope on twitter.

i thought martin luther sort of put an end to those things… i mean, the RCC did after luther started that sort of little revolution.

To the purchase of indulgences, sure. But they’re still allowed for meritorious deeds (i.e. doing what the Pope especially wants you to do).
