London photo: classic pickup

classicpickup

A classic American pickup truck, with California plates (which I suspect might be fake).

Did California plates ever have the city on them?

Spotted in Shoreditch, of course.

You are correct. California doesn’t put the city or county (which I suspect it would be) on our plates. Plus, there were no 1949 stamped plates. It would have been a 1947 plate with a metal tab replacing the year with ’48, ’49 or ’50. Also that number configuration was not used until 1969 (the blue and gold plates). It’s the sort of thing that will take me out of a film if I see it.
