Barcelona photos: Casa Batlló interior (part 1)

If the exterior of this house, designed by Gaudí, is gorgeous, the interior is one of the most stunning structures I’ve ever seen. It’s so full of beautiful details that it’s too much for one post, so I’ll start with just the two light wells in the center of the townhouse.

Balconies and landings overlook the light wells, which climb the full six floors of the house:

The tiles darken from light blue at the bottom (where less light reaches) to dark blue at the top (which are more brightly lit), which creates the effect of them appearing much the same color along the entire height from whatever vantage point along the well you look at them.
