It’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States today, which is of course unavoidable if you’re in the US but likely also if you’re in the UK… or perhaps only in London, where I am. There are so many Americans in London that some pubs serve turkey dinners and upscale shops like Whole Foods actually mention the holiday in their advertising, at least in-store.

And yet I can’t watch the Macy’s parade anywhere without paying for some streaming service tunneled through a VPN that I’ll never use again.

I’m not having turkey today, but I can never let this day go by without watching Wednesday Addams’s brilliant takedown of American tradition in 1993’s Addams Family Values:

(The quality of this clip isn’t great, but it seems to be the only one that includes the full scene, including the setup.)

I never fail to take heart from her anarchic festivities. Be the change you want to see in the world, like Wednesday does.
