This is real. This is happening. From a press release I received yesterday (emphasis mine):

Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure

Larger than life arena spectacular now on sale!

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and Stage Entertainment Touring Productions are proud to present Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure – a ground-breaking arena show where everyone’s favourite Ice Age characters are brought to life! Combining dance, acrobatics, flying and skating, Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure will take audiences on a jaw-dropping adventure with an all-new storyline inspired by the first three films of the top-grossing international animated film franchise of all time.

Tickets are now on sale for the stunning new production set to celebrate its world premiere at Wembley Arena on November 2nd – the start of a 5-year global tour.

Co-directors Guy Caron (Cirque du Soleil) and Michael Curry (Lion King, Cirque du Soleil) head a world-class creative team, working their magic and artistic genius into gravity-defying acrobatics and breath-taking costumes, interweaving the storyline with the music and lyrics of Ella Louise Allaire & Martin Lord Ferguson, and the clever set design of British born David Shields.

The show will include action-packed thrills, eye-popping effects, mischievous humour and toe-tapping songs as the loveable characters Scrat, Manny, Diego, Sid, Ellie, Peaches, Buck, Eddie and Crash come to life and embark on a journey of discovery with several new characters created for the live show. Presented on an impressive scale, Manny the mammoth will measure over 3.5m in height, while new character Shadow, the evil bird, features an awesome wingspan of 4m. Through the vision of Caron and Curry, these innovative characters will walk and talk, interacting with audiences around the world.

Michael Curry, co-director and costume designer said, “Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure is a fantastic piece of storytelling. It is especially exciting for me as it combines two of the most important things in my life, animals and comedy. I’m really looking forward to bringing the Ice Age herd to life – they’re going to have so much fun in this live show!”

Experience Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure at Wembley Arena from 1 – 3 November during the London Half Term Holiday, or catch the show prior in Cardiff 18 – 21 October and Nottingham 25 – 28 October also at half term! Tickets are priced from £20 with no booking fees. Bring your own ‘herd’ with a special early bird family and friends ticket available at £99 and £138 for 4 tickets with no booking fees.

Actually, now that I read it again, maybe it’s not on ice. Maybe the skating is on wheels. So never mind my snark, then: all is good.

One thing is for certain: Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure will feature none of the animation of the top-grossing international animated film franchise of all time. Only lovable contortionist acrobats in squirrel costumes on skates, singing Ice Age favorites including “Ode to the Glacier (My Heart Is Melting)” and “Top of the Food Chain, Ma!”
