what Batman thinks about (and other adventures in social networking)

What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today:
• I’ve been asked to sign an embargo form for an upcoming screening that forbids, among other things, talking about said film “in public places, such as elevators, restaurants, and restrooms, as these conversations may be overheard.” Flabbergasted.

• Text at that link below starts off with one of the most awful things I’ve read about movies lately: “Here’s a testament to The Dark Knight Rises: Even one and a half weeks later, we’re still thinking about it.” Doesn’t seem to be a joke. Is this how disposable our movies have become, that it’s surprising that less than two weeks later, it hasn’t been forgotten? How horrible!

• What Batman thinks about. There’s an unsurprising level of body issues at work here. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Infographic: What’s Batman Thinking?

Twenty Twelve wishes it had come up with this: the mayor of London, professional buffoon Boris Johnson, dangling in midair. EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Boris stuck on zip wire

• Twitter unbans British journo who was critical of NBC, but there’s still reason to worry (plus, a few examples that demonstrate that Twitter’s explanation for the ban is at best hypocritical and at worse complete BS). Guy Adams suspension, now lifted, punctuates Twitter censorship evolution

• Nice tribute to Vidal from a genre outlet. It’s worth noting that even if Vidal wasn’t exactly a geek, he embodied a lot of geek ideals about living life on your own terms and not giving a damn what others think of you. Gore Vidal, 1925-2012
