The engineering is lovely. The days when one could see what was happening; I’m sure that’s some of the appeal of steampunk.

I’m sure you’ve been told this but the front guns are trained and elevated on the Scratchwoods Services some 12.5 miles away on the M1.

…make smoke?
If you change the fuel composition slightly, you can cause the boilers to emit thick black smoke rather than the usual fairly wispy stuff. This is quite handy for confusing the enemy as to where other ships in your fleet might be. (At least in the era before universal radar; Belfast was built when it still made some sense.)
