Not by choice. Disqus decreed that all sites had to move to the new system, so I moved. It’s not too different from the old Disqus, but I have less control over making it look more like my site, so it may be a little jarring for the eye at first.
The new related-links stuff — which may appear either above or below comments — is not a requirement of the new Disqus, but I thought I’d give it a try and see if it does as promised. Which is 1) grow traffic through both links internal to this site and external to the rest of the Web, and 2) earn revenue (though clicks on those external links). I’ll leave those link boxes there for a while and see how they perform.

UPDATE: So it seems that some people are having trouble with the new Disqus. What a surprise. If you cannot see the comments section, please drop me a line and let me know.
Well, first off, I don’t see any ‘related links’, but we already know that Disqus doesn’t like Blackberrys. I don’t see whether or not people liked a comment, either. But, I guess I should be happy that I can read and post comments on this, my work BB, versus the absence of seeing people’s reactions to your thoughts like on my personal BB.
It may be that the new Disqus isn’t quite compatible with BB…

Yep, only those that are logged in can down vote posts, but guests can always up vote. They added this to prevent trolls who wanted to be anonymous from messing up the comments.
I’ve discovered that when I click on the Up arrow it adds 2. (Goes up 1, then 2.) It’s not the mouse, I have two and it does the same on both of them.
No Disqus has ever been fully compatible w/ BB. I’ve complained to them. No joy.
If your BB browser is WebKit based it should work fine, or with very minimal issues (which would require just a few more BB specific tweaks).
Well, I’m back. The last upgrade, late last year, killed my access via Chromium on Linux, but I could still use Firefox; now I can’t use that either. Disqus appears to regard Linux as some dangerous anarchist thing that they don’t support even slightly. So I’ve set up a virtual Windows machine…

I run Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with both Chrome and Firefox, and Disqus loads just fine on all web pages. What distro of Linux are you running, and your browser version?
Debian/stable – I like software that’s been debugged. Iron/Chrome 23, Firefox 3.something from before they went into insane high-speed release mode.
I run Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86. Chrome and Firefox (latest versions) work fine. If the browser uses Webkit it should work, or at least work partially.
Not a surprise, after I discovered what was going on and wrote a post about it. Disqus even chimed in and did confirm that they were eventually going to get rid of the classic Disqus.
I suggest that if you guys want custom CSS support and other things you should complain in the comments; they did read the post and are collecting feedback.

It’s March 1. That’s the date in the email I received from Disqus last Friday when they’re automatically moving sites using classic Disqus over to Disqus 2012.
Really? Wow.
The sad part is that they haven’t even announced this on their blog yet.
Disqus claims to “work everywhere”. As far as I’m concerned, I put energy into work computing. The BB should be relatively plug-&-play. Discus is used widely enough on the web that they should have figured out the variety of browsers it needs to support.

Ok, someone help me out here. How do I sort the comments and their attached threads by time posted? I just realized that the comment on the top is the one with the most ^ votes. Asynchronous is ok, but I want chronological order.Nvrmnd. Found it under the “Discussion” tab. I’m an idjit. Shoulda looked harder.
Oh yeah. And I learned that an edit in this new system doesn’t display right off when I click “Save Edit”. I have to refresh the page first. Sometimes. Sometimes not. ^!.!^ (that’s supposed to be a shrug)
Click on “Discussion”, and it’ll give you the option for “oldest”.
Possibly dumb question…did the edit with the < strike > code not appear? I was wondering if that code would take on this site ’cause I’d never used it here before.
If anyone’s having trouble unsubscribing from email notifications on specific posts, be aware that the interface has been changed – you now need to scroll right to the bottom of the page, where “subscribe via email” will show in green; click it and it’ll turn to grey, and that unsubscribes you.
