In the July/August 2008 issue of Archaeology magazine:
For this movie, it was about the history. Let’s just say thar Stephen Sommers [director of the first two] didn’t pay as much respect and honor to Egypt as I believe we have to China. There’s a balance between playing fast and loose with a culture for entertainment and giving the culture no credence at all
Ooo. (There’s a lot more at Archaeology about making a historical action fantasy, but no more Sommers bashing.)
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor opens August 1.
(Technorati tags: Mummy, Rob Cohen, Stephen Sommers)

I guess I’m skeptical of Rob “director of triple x, the skulls, and stealth” Cohen handling Chinese culture any more carefully than Sommers did Egypt’s. But perhaps he deserves me waiting to see, as the movie has awesome Jet Li, and I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie in the franchise.
Thanks, Clay. I’ve been fiddling with some of the backend stuff, which was obviously causing the problem. Should be fixed now.
Y’know, when Cohen directs some movie that doesen’t totally suck, then he can give other directors shit about historical accuracy.
Oh wait, I stand corrected: Cohen directed Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story, so he knows alllllllllll about Chinese culture.
Jerk.
Stephen is better than rob !!!!! The first 2 mummies are better then the 3rd
