Is this really a surprise? Robert Downey Jr. seems to be cursed to play drug abusers his whole career…

Well, I expected someone British, for one.

Call me crazy, but I was hoping for Paul Bettany. Say what you like about “A Knight’s Tale”, but for my money, his screen time made that movie worth watching more than once. His work in “Dogville” was great, as well. However, cast Robert Downey, Jr. in anything and I will be at the theater on opening day.

I’ll be there for Downey in anything, too. And I’m intriguied by the idea of him playing Holmes. It just wasn’t what I was expecting from Ritchie.

Oh, but can’t you just see it. Him, cocking his head just a bit to the side the way he does, while acting all pontifical.

Can. not. wait.

Yeah, I can see him. It’s just not what I was expecting to be seeing. :->

I’m sure he’ll do fine, but my first choice would be Christopher Eccleston.

Of course, he would be my first choice for just about anything, mind you.
