why didn’t someone tell me…

…that the monthly archive thingie wasn’t updating properly? I just went to use it, and discovered that “July 2008” wasn’t showing up in the dropdown. The index for this month exists, it’s just that a link wasn’t appearing on the menu.

Does this mean that no one is using those monthly archives, or that people just assume the site isn’t working properly as a matter of course? I do my best to fix those things ASAP, but I have to know that they’re not working in order to do that.

So don’t be afraid to bug me with an email or a comment if you think something’s busted — I’m probably NOT already aware of it. And I do read all the comments posted here, and all the emails I receive. I don’t have interns or employees or any kind of lackeys doing any of the work here for me — I do it all myself. So I’m always accessible.

Well personally, I’d have poked you if I noticed it wasn’t working. But I haven’t needed it since you added it. Which isn’t to say that I’d never need it, mind you. There have been times before you added it that I wished it was there. But it’s not the kind of thing that comes up on an overly regular basis.

I think it is that no one searches for movie reviews by month in the fist place. If I’m looking for a specific film, I’m not going to rack my brain trying to remember if it came out in March or April or May a year ago. I’ll just use the master list and look up the title.

Except not every posting here is a review. It’s easy to find the reviews here. It’s probably not so easy to find the other stuff.

Oh, definitely Ryan. I wouldn’t use it to look up a specific movie. But MaryAnn posts more than just movie reviews here, so.

In reality, I didn’t know the feature existed, but I tend to check my certain stable of websites daily, so I’m rarely searching for older content by date.
