screencap Friday: what the flick? #60

Friday fun! Here’s a screen capture from one of the DVDs in my collection (and it’s definitely from a movie, not a TV show). Guess the movie for fun and, well, fun. No prizes, just bragging rights. But hey: one guess per comment — no fair hogging all the guesses.

I am going to go with my first instinct since thinking about it hasn’t helped me. I guess Rain Man.

MaryAnn, I have no guess but wanted to let you know, this is the first time the picture has been clear. Up to now all I’ve seen was shapes, colors and shadows. This’ll be the reason some of my guesses have been very off the wall. Last week I tried copying them to a picture editor where I changed the contrast brightness. Lo and behold, an actual picture! A horse – a guy hunched over, writing, shot between some glass bottles – an actual man’s back (the Chicago pic)! So, this week, what did you do different?

BTW, folks, I tried looking up the signature as a character name in IMDB and got nowhere.)

That is, I changed the contrast AND brightness.

Hmm, that’s a British prescription (and for someone who’s exempt from paying too!)

So…Trainspotting?

Adding to NorthernStar’s sharpeyed comments – the character is also over 80 years old and named E Warsop. Still can’t pinpoint the movie – so will guess at Brassed Off…

Althea, I used to have the same issue, but it went away once I got a nicer monitor. Some CRTs are just very dark.

Grrr…with gritted teeth I thank you, Stuart, for the info about the monitor. Yet another thing I want to replace with a sweet new LCD but can’t do yet. Still though, what was it that made this pic come through clear while the others didn’t?
