my week at the movies: ‘From Paris with Love,’ ‘When in Rome’

It’s another slow week, because it’s late January and almost everyone’s at Sundance. But instead of Utah, I get to go to France this week: From Paris with Love (opens in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on February 5) might make me feel like I’m traveling. A little bit, maybe? Please? Maybe I’ll get a chance to glimpse the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe in the background as John Travolta and Jonathan Rhy Meyers zoom by mid-car chase?

And then I’m off to Italy with When in Rome (opens in the U.S. and Canada on January 29, and in the U.K. on April 23), which makes that ancient and storied city look like it’s full of nobody but idiot Americans. This one, I suspect, will make me wish I’d stayed at home…
