Exactly! You see? That is PURE GOLD. That kind of nerdy competitive tension was the undercurrent of their show, and it was why I watched. Zero chance of any of that between Ebert and that milquetoast schmuck Richard Roeper.

They are lit. Shickered. They couldn’t have been completely sober.

Bwahahahaha! I always thought that to do TV you’d have to be under the influence. rotfl

ROFL!!! Fantastic.

I must remember to add “For you, speech is a second language” to my arsenal of devastating put-downs. (That I never think to use, until it’s too late.)

One of my old employees often visited thr bar in Chicago where Ebert was a regular in the 80’s and he told me that the esteemed critic was indeed an arrogant, sexist, insecure asshole and that everyone in the bar hated him. This video seems to confirm that assessment. What’s shocking to me is that Siskel doesn’t seem much better. Some of their reviews are worth reading, but they certainly would be unpleasant company.

The tag-team movie-review genre has never really mainstreamed in the UK. But watching the above clip did make me wonder whether we would ever see our hostess paired with (or against) another critic on a YouTube channel. I would so subscribe to an intelligent Anglo-American video commentary on film and television.
