As of this writing, 8 movies will open wide in North America in the month of May. Which means that even if you’re an active moviegoer and see a movie each week, you’ve still gotta pick and choose (and it’s even worse if you’re in a city on the arthouse circuit, but let’s not make this too complicated).

Iron Man 2, obviously!

Seen Iron Man 2 (but am seriously considering going to see it again)
Want to see ‘Robin Hood’ as I am a fan of Sir Ridley Scott. That and it can’t be any worse than the BBC1 series (not even Richard Armitage could save that dreck!)
And you’re going to have to *pay* me to see SATC 2. Just no!
Would like to see Shrek but am going to wait a) to see what ‘trusted’ reviewers (like Mary Ann, Empire magazine etc) and b) for it to open in the UK.
Iron Man 2
Yes, I’m seeing Iron Man 2, fast, cheesy fun and I love RDJr but my most anticipated movie for May is Robin Hood. Huge Russell Crowe fan and Ridley Scott as well. Scott, Crowe, Blanchett as well as William Hurt, Mark Strong, Danny Huston and the Merry Men, it’ll be terrific.
Only Iron Man 2 is piquing my interest. To be honest I’m WAY more excited for the series finale of Lost. Should be better than anything to be offered in the big screen this month.

Robin Hood, very likely. Prince of Persia, probably (unless it gets totally panned). Others on the list, I can wait for the DVD or miss entirely.

Surprisingly, I’m finding ‘Just Wright’ a bit intriguing – not that it isn’t completely predictable, but Queen Latifa is always interesting to watch and Common appears to be bringing a performance well beyond his previous work.
As for ‘Robin Hood’, doesn’t the cast look a little old for their parts? Nothing against 40-somethings (I’m over 50 myself) but they just all looks so mature and sensible for my ideal of what’s happening in Sherwood Forest.
I’m waiting for the cheap straight-to-DVD knockoff of Iron Man 2 made by those Asylum chaps: that’s right, I’m waiting for Ferro Man 2!
Iron Man 2. I’ll wait for Shrek Forever After on DVD. Robin Hood looks more like Gladiator 2 than the story it’s based off of, and for that matter so does Prince of Persia.
Not to mention that the average life expectancy in medieval England was around 30, I think; probably less if you’re living the hard life of an outlaw. The cast should be in their teens or twenties, if they wanted to be true to the period.
Iron Man 2, like everyone else (and I’m so very much looking forward to Mary Ann’s review!).
I enjoyed the BBC series. It had its problems, but it also was quite often fun. Not great BBC material on the level of Doctor Who, but an enjoyable show nonetheless.
To the original question, I’m most looking forward to Iron Man and Robin Hood. I’m also looking forward to Shrek, though the third Shrek film makes me a bit wary.
This list looks to me like “IRON MAN blah blah blah blah something maybe kinda interesting from Ridley Scott blah blah blah blah . . . “
This whole summer has me bored already. Nothing is really piquing my interest. I really enjoyed Iron Man, but have no great need to see the sequel in theaters.
I normally like Ridley Scott movies, but the whole Robin Hood thing is so played out. Plus I agree with Gensing on the cast. Why would someone pick Cate Blanchet for the Maid Marion role? VERY odd choice. Someone young and pretty like Michelle Monaghan would have been better. Guess they needed someone older like Crowe.
Shrek can go blow. I’m so tired of cash grabs.

Generally speaking, I find Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett much more interesting than most younger actors. But I do find it amusing that Crowe is exactly the same age as Sean Connery was when he played Robin in Robin and Marian, which was all about how he was past his prime. And let’s face it, 46 is pretty old for the 12th century.
