Love it! I read where she said she missed all of the experimenting that teenage girls can do on their hair since she had to keep her hair a certain way for Harry Potter. She was ready for a change and I think it is very cool.
It doesn’t matter what we think about it, if she’s happy with it that’s all that matters.
I’m for it–everyone should experiment, whenever they feel like it. I think she looks good with short hair, but I thought she looked good with longer hair. And in any event, it’s her choice.

What I think is intriguing (and what I think MAJ is saying too) is how her hair has become the biggest news story of the day. Prop 8 was overturned, we’re still fighting 2 wars, and the economy hasn’t budged in months… but Hermione Granger got a pixie cut and everyone must have an opinion! I’m not suggesting we’re bad people for saying if we like it or not. I just think it’s interesting how one individual’s personal style can captivate millions of people. What would aliens think of us?
Anyway, this is why I’d hate being a celebrity. She’s going through a huge change in her life, decides to celebrate that with a physical change, and now everyone in the world is talking about her hair. I’d be so insecure. She must be made of tougher stuff than me. Kudos Emma. She’s a pretty smart woman with her head on straight.

She is pretty now matter what length her hair is. However, it certainly is different. Since I can’t stand long hair on myself (makes me itchy), I have little room to protest her decision. I think it will just take some getting used to after being used to seeing it long all this time.

I don’t like it. Generally, I don’t like short hair on women, with a few exceptions. But, frankly, what I think doesn’t mean shit. I don’t have to care for long hair (I hardly care for my short hair), and even if I did, not my head. She can do what she wants with it.
I think it might be helpful for her – she looks much more mature with the short hair, and perhaps it will stop the immediate ‘Hermione Granger’ association so that she can move on and get different work now that Harry Potter is finished. She’s a talented actress so I’m sure she’ll do well, but changing people’s perceptions of her after 7 or 8 years as one character can’t hurt.

Not a fan of the new ‘do, or really any haircuts that make women look like prepubescent boys. Doesn’t look good on Carey Mulligan, doesn’t look good on Emma Watson.
Not meaning to sound creepy, but if you think that is waht Emma Watson looks like with her new hair do, you sure know some very attractive prepubescent boys.
Yuck! What the hell did she do to herself? Poor girl is so traumatized after years of potter that she’s gone nuts. I generally don’t like short hair on women anyway, but this is quite drastic. Perhaps it’s for a movie role?

This is the first I’ve heard of or seen it. I guess I must be reading the right selection of news sources that I remain mostly oblivious to all but the loudest celeb gossip.
And while I’m here: Oh, my, but she’s turned into a stunning young woman. I’m looking forward to seeing her, and the rest of the Potter kids, stretch their legs into the adult acting world. I hope they’ll go far.

I would now like to comment on Ms. Watson’s appearance.
I think the overturning of Prop 8 is worth celebrating because civil rights and equal protection for minorities should come under the aegis of the Constitution and not be subject to popular vote and I hope the drawdown in Iraq continues to happen on schedule as promised by the Administration and it’s distressing that we’re getting mired in Afghanistan and unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be getting out of there anytime soon but the replacement of McChrystal with Petraeus was a smart move on the part of the President in my opinion and I certainly hope the BP oil spill has been well and truly plugged but I believe everyone responsible for this environmental catastrophe should be held accountable including Bush-Cheney-Halliburton under whose watch the Mineral Management Service exempted the Deepwater Horizon from inspection and completely overlooked the flaws in its failsafe procedures and I hope this makes people realize how desperately we need to wean ourselves off of our reliance on fossil fuels in order to preserve the environment and mitigate the worst effects of global warming and I hope the economy turns around soon but it will require guts on the part of the Democrats in Congress who need to pass jobs-creation bills despite obstruction from the Republicans and it will also require patience and perseverance on the part of the American people AND I LIKE EMMA WATSON’S HAIRCUT. She looks great.

Now, I think Watson is fantastic, I love her new ‘do, and I wish I had a face that would let me pull off a look like that. (To all the guys who are saying they don’t like short hair on women: Try dealing with long hair for a while, and see if you wouldn’t like a break from the hassle. It’s a frakkin’ pain in the ass. And it’s even worse in the hot summer.)
I do try to avoid, here, celeb gossip that focuses totally on the personal. I don’t care who’s engaged to whom or who was spotted with whom canoodling at some nightclub or who’s fucking whom or who’s divorcing whom. I have my fantasies about celebs just like lots of people do, but I don’t get getting upset or excited about the romantic lives of famous people, or other personal stuff. It’s not like if George Clooney breaks up with his latest girlfriend I’ll be next on his list.
I *almost* get *some* of the to-do over Watson’s hair, because it is a radical break from her past, a mark of her coming of age as an actress and as a woman, and an indication (perhaps) that she’s serious enough as an artist that she doesn’t want to get typecast as a nerdy witch. And maybe that’s why I even bothered to get snarky about the excitement over her hair.
Mostly, though, the reaction has been on a level that is more personal than makes me comfortable. Sure, her new ‘do is cool. But it’s also more than a little weird that it’s being taken as a public statement when probably, it’s just a young woman doing something fun and spontaneous.

I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be so famous that getting a haircut would be international news.
Perhaps I should announce my next haircut to the local press and see where it goes?
On this point I can definitely relate. I went through a bout of grunge-rocker-wannabeism, and long hair is indeed a chore.

I don’t get the comments over it. Emma looks pretty with short hair (now maybe she’ll be able to get some peace and quiet at college because she looks so different), and she wanted a change. I don’t blame her for wanting to get rid of it.
Although, I wonder why she didn’t do it sooner. It’s not as if she couldn’t cut it short and just wear a wig/hair extensions over it while shooting the Potter movies.
Well, at least it will grow out.
