‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: Russell T. Davies might leave ‘Torchwood’

Oh noes! From The List:

Russell T. Davies is considering leaving ‘Torchwood’.

The creator recently penned his fourth series of the ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off show and has hinted he may move onto other projects once the new 10-part ‘Miracle Day’ is completed but doesn’t want the programme – which stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper – to end for good.

He told BBC News “It’s interesting as to how long I can stay in the science fiction world. Personally I think I’m coming to the end of it now and I’ve saved the world and blown up the world too many times.

“It’s time to write something just where people talk in kitchens, at least for me. But I hope we literally leave the franchise in a very strong position [so] that other writers come in and take it over.”

Or maybe not oh-noes. Maybe giving the series over to another showrunner would be a good thing, would keep the show from getting stale.
