AOL/HuffPo to movie journos: You’re fired, unless you want to write for free

Wed, Apr 06, 2011

AOL/HuffPo values the voices and input of its writers… just not enough to pay them. So please do continue to do the excellent work you’ve been doing, Cinematical and Moviefone writers, just don’t expect to get paid for it. *grrr*

question of the day: Are geeks to blame for ‘Sucker Punch’?

Wed, Mar 30, 2011

Jonathan London at Geekscape has posted a downright desperate screed attempting to defend Zack Snyder and his Sucker Punch by simultaneously insisting that the film is not terrible, and also that if geeks hate the film it means they hate themselves. Oh, and we’re just jealous of Snyder, anyway.

Roger Ebert has advice for *some* people who like ‘Battle: Los Angeles’

But only some people. It appears to be inconceivable to him that some women might actually like this movie. Why would they? It’s a science fiction military action flick with blatant political overtones… and no pink whatsoever. What’s for a girl to like, then? We shouldn’t be taxing our ladybrains thinking about such notions.

I’m getting really damn sick and tired of stupidity getting a free pass from people who are supposed to be smart about movies…
