screencap Friday: what the flick? #104

Friday fun! Here’s a screen capture from one of the DVDs in my collection (and it’s definitely from a movie, not a TV show). Guess the movie for fun and, well, fun. No prizes, just bragging rights. But hey: one guess per comment — no fair hogging all the guesses.

the Dirty District 9, the Explosive Bloody Mary…

If you’re looking for some movie-themed drinks for tonight’s partying, check out the specialty vodka drinks the Alliance of Women Film Journalists invented. We served these at our awards celebration a few weeks ago. My favorite: the Dirty District 9: THE DIRTY DISTRICT NINE, honoring District Nine, the 2009 EDA Award winner for Cultural Crossover: … more…

because silence = death

A homeopathic product for the relief of tinnitus — or ringing in the ears — is called Quietus… just like the legal suicide drug in Children of Men that despairing folk in a dying world take to gently off themselves from the horrors and hopelessness of everyday life. Tim Burton at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC: spooky cool

Film screenings, sure — and MOMA’s got that, too, all 14 of Burton’s features … more…

“The Ultimate Disney Experience” in New York not so ultimate

Someone says “ultimate Disney experience,” what springs to mind? Maybe a trip to Disney World including a stay in one of the luxury resort hotels there? That’s pretty ultimate. Maybe when there’s a Disney park in zero-g, that’ll be considered the ultimate. Thing is, I’m not sure that “The Ultimate Disney Experience” that Disney is … more…
