Those clever sneaky Pixar folks are warning us that if we Americans don’t clean house, we’re going to bring the whole world down with us, and the entirety of human civilization will collapse into a nasty soup of irrationality and ignorance.

Red (review)

Of all the washed-up washed-out over-the-hill too-old-for-this-shit action-hero movies we’ve had thrown at us this year — The A-Team, The Losers, The ExpendablesRed is by far the most amusing, the most clever, the most tongue-in-cheek, the most fun (and I say that as someone who mostly liked those other movies).

Heartbreaker (L’arnacoeur) (review)

This breezy but slight French rom-com so perfectly apes Hollywood’s output in the genre that I have no doubt that at this very moment, an English-language studio remake is being plotted… one that will remove even the small charms that make it worth a look.

Salt (review)

*Salt* works. As in breathless-nonstop–action-intensity works. Oh, sure, it’s nutty-as-a-fruitcake insane at the same time, but being this hugely entertaining goes a long way toward making you not want to laugh at it.
