I’m gonna go with Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings. Wood doesn’t spring to mind when thinking about action heroes, and even within the context of the story, a homebody hobbit is the last person anyone expects to be an action hero.

It’s cases like this that make me question the conventional wisdom that Hollywood only gives audiences what they want. It appears that the public does not want to see Lindsay Lohan onscreen. Something else must be going on.

Right around 24 hours from now, I will have an unbearable urge to send a tweet out to the Net as I emerge from my screening, to let you all know what my inital reaction is. And I will have to strangle that urge in a way that other critics haven’t had to…
