question of the day: Who are the unlikeliest action heroes ever?

Lord of the Rings Elijah Wood

Hitfix offers us a list of “15 of the unlikeliest action heroes in movie history”… and I’m not sure I entirely agree with their conclusions. Bruce Willis moving from Moonlighting to Die Hard isn’t surprising, but Michael Keaton moving from Beetlejuice to Batman is? I don’t quite see it. Some of Hitfix’s choices make sense — Helen Mirren in Red and Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet — but others don’t: what’s unexpected about John Cusack in Grosse Pointe Blank or Liam Neeson in Taken? (See the whole list here.)
Who are the unlikeliest action heroes ever?

I’m gonna go with one that Hitfix missed: Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings. Wood isn’t exactly the first actor who springs to mind when thinking about casting an action hero, but even more pertinently, within the context of the story, a homebody hobbit is the last person everyone else around Frodo expects to be an action hero.

Your turn…
