Doctor Who blogging: “The Time of the Doctor”
I’ve watched this episode four times now, and it annoys me more every time.

I’ve watched this episode four times now, and it annoys me more every time.

I’ve certainly seen ideas I explored in my own fan fiction of the late 80s and early 90s reflected in the new show. Seems like I’m not alone.

Who is Peter Capaldi’s Doctor? He must have a name… (Ron Burgundy is confused.)

I’ve been hard on Steven Moffat during his tenure as Doctor Who showrunner. But he got it right with “The Day of the Doctor.” He got it really, really right.

Might be interesting if it had enough passion and guts to take a stand, but ends up in the mushy middle of the road, which surely sprang from a desire to be “fair” and “balanced.”

My ears are bleeding from Malcolm Tucker’s volcano of hilariously creative vulgarity; he is to profanity what Shakespeare is to poetry.

More bits of the show’s history is uncovered for the 50th anniversary.

Of course you’ve already seen the David Tennant episode in which soon-to-be-Twelfth-Doctor Peter Capaldi appears as a Roman gentleman…

Evidence: a Radio Times letter, a fanzine article, and being a pain in the ass to the poor kid who ran the Official Doctor Who Fan Club.

Brilliant choice. He’s a fantastic actor, and he might actually be allowed to bring something dark and sardonic to the Doctor, as well as the man-about-the-universe panache I wanted.
